| Augsburg is stronger than it has been in a long time. In 8th place, they're only six points behind fourth, and with the opposition so reluctant to be consistent, they might even be in with a Champions League spot. Augsburg hasn't lost a home game since January. Things are anything but quiet in the guests camp during this hot phase of the season. The injury crisis has hit hard, the drama surrounding Thomas Muller is escalating and the league table isn't exactly providing much relief either. Bayern Munich entered the international break with very disappointing results a 2-3 loss against Bochum and 1-1 draw against Union Berlin. Unfortunately, not all of their stars returned healthy. Dayot Upamecano will be out for a few weeks, Alphonso Davies perhaps will need more time to return. Aleksandar Pavlovic is far from ready to play again and on top of that, Joshua Kimmich and Harry Keane have to be careful not to pick up a fifth yellow card because the next opponent is Borussia Dortmund. The recent 3-2 win over St. Pauli with its lack of clarity did little to restore calm. Bayer Leverkusen is only six points behind and the first Champions League quarterfinal against Inter takes place just four days after the match in Augsburg. |
